I have a Psychology degree, am I eligible for the Diploma course?
The minimum requirement for entry to the Diploma in CBT/REBT is formal training in basic counselling skills. These are examined in the practical assessment of the Diploma course but are not taught on it. Most undergraduate psychology degrees do not teach the practical skills of counselling, usually only covering the theoretical models.
I have previous CBT qualifications can I gain entry to the Advanced Diploma in CBT/REBT?
No, unless a candidate has extensive and thorough training in the REBT model you will not be able to gain entry to the Advanced Diploma.
CBT qualifications usually teach Cognitive Therapy (CT) by Aaron Beck. Our courses specialize in REBT by Albert Ellis.
If I want to become accredited by the National Counselling Society which courses do I need to take?
You are required to have successfully completed and passed the following courses:
- Diploma in CBT/REBT
- Advanced Diploma in CBT/REBT
- Advanced Diploma in Integrative CBT/REBT I
Is there practical work on your courses?
Yes, all our courses are a mixture of theory and practical skills.
Is there client work on your courses?
Yes. Once you have completed and passed the Diploma course where you gain all the skills required to work with clients, the Advanced Diploma requirements include a placement under clinical supervision.
Are there any extra costs over and above the course fees?
At Diploma level there are no extra costs. On the Advanced Diplomas clinical supervision at a cost of £50 per session for a minimum of 7 sessions is required. Therefore a further £350 cost on top of the basic fees for each Advanced course. However, you can share the supervision session with another student from the same course and thus halving the fee for each student.
